Pepermint Frosted Brownies

I recently made these delicious chocolate pepermint frosted brownies and everyone seemed to love them! They are perfect for the holidays and spending time in the kitchen with your family. It's a simple recipe that kids can follow along with  too!

To start off you will need-
*Brownies (Box); eggs, oil, water
*1 cup milk
*3 tablespoons flour
*1/8 teaspoon salt
*8 ounces of either 62 percent dark chocolate or white chocolate
*1 cup (2 sticks) butter
*1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
*2 tablespoons cocoa, (for white chocolate frosting, omit cocoa)
*1 teaspoon vanilla extract
*Pepermints/Candy canes

To start off you will cook the brownies like you would cook regular brownies, follow instructions on the box. When the brownies are done and cooling off you can make the frosting. To do so you, whisk 1 cup milk, 3 tablespoons flour, and 1⁄8 teaspoon salt in a small saucepan over medium heat until the mixture thickens and begins to bubble. This should take 1 to 2 minutes. Then you transfer it to a small bowl and let it cool. After that melt 8 ounces of either 62 percent dark chocolate or white chocolate and set it aside to cool. Then beat 1 cup butter, 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar, and 2 tablespoons cocoa (for white chocolate frosting, omit cocoa) together until light and fluffy. Mix in the cooled chocolate and add the milk mixture and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (dark chocolate frosting only) until smooth and fluffy. Use immediately to cover the brownies(they should be cooled off). Once you spread the frosting all over the brownies crush some pepermints or candy canes and drizzle all over the brownies.

You can always switch the frosting out to a vanilla or buttercreme frosting if you want- I prefer the chocolate frosting. And you can always add pepermints to the brownie mix before you cook them.

I hope you enjoyed this recipe- feel free to comment and send pictures if you decide to make these!
